The 2017 York Early Music Festival marked its 40th anniversary with the theme Changing Times, Changing Places — exploring how music evolves through moments of upheaval and transformation.

The design for the York Early Music Festival identity in 2017, is built around a vintage clock embedded in the Earth, its hands shaped as missiles. This detail added a sense of urgency and tension, nodding to the political instability of the time and echoing this turbulent era.
