The 2017 York Early Music Festival marked its 40th anniversary with the theme Changing Times, Changing Places — exploring how music evolves through moments of upheaval and transformation.

The 2017 York Early Music Festival identity centred on a vintage clock montaged onto an image of the Earth, its missile-shaped hands quietly suggesting global tension. Evoking a sense of unease and urgency, reflecting the heightened political instability of the period and offering a visual metaphor for a world on edge.

A thought-provoking identity for a festival looking both back and forward, rooted in the past and aware of the world changing around it.

We rolled it out across all print and digital materials, from brochures and banners to online graphics and social media.
